I'm Tony Garoppolo, a retired Chief U.S. Probation Officer living in Brooklyn Heights. For a few years after I retired, I was the chess teacher at the St. Charles Jubilee Senior Center in my neighborhood. I now teach chess by appointment at my apartment, 7 days per week - just for my love of the game - all lessons free of charge. Lessons are for complete beginners, and experienced recreational players who wish to improve their game. Chess is great brain exercise that sharpens cognition because it involves thinking, mental focus, judgement in making choices on tactics and strategies, and finding solutions to unanticipated and difficult offenses presented by your opponents.
